Aiming High Network

Welcome to the Aiming High Network. If you run groups/activities/provision outside of school time and are keen to welcome disabled children and young people to take part, this is where you can find out all sorts of useful information:

Contact The Key on 08456 583857 if you want to post information onto this website (see the blogs to the right of this page).  You might want to ask questions of colleagues if you want their help or advice with anything relating to inclusion – or you can offer help yourself to others. So if you need someone who knows Makaton signing, or if you are looking for an accessible venue, or if you want to see someone’s policies or share your own, you can use this webpage. We want it to help in developing a real sense of mutual help and support amongst all who are involved in welcoming disabled children and young people.

 Inclusion Grant

Where providers genuinely need additional funding to enable a disabled young person to take part in what you offer, there may be money available to facilitate their inclusion. This is not for meeting the standard costs that would be associated with any young person’s involvement; nor is it a substitute for good creative thinking in making the reasonable adjustments necessary to include someone. But it may be a useful resource where your creativity has hit a brick wall. To see if you might be eligible to access the Inclusion Grant to support a particular young person, please ring 01452 328056 or contact kim.mora@gloucestershire.gov.uk

Inclusion Coordinators

A team within the Disabled Children and Young People’s services.  Inclusion Coordinators support disabled children to access out of school activities or childcare within mainstream settings.  They work with families, disabled young people and providers to support the young person to settle into the activity, as well as working with and supporting the providers.

Referrals to this service can now come directly from parent carers or anyone working with disabled children.  To be eligible for help from the Inclusion Co-ordinators, the child has to have a diagnosed disability or condition, the child must not already have an assessment completed by a social worker or lead professional, the child’s only need is to access activities/childcare and the child is between 4-18 years old.  Click here  for a referral form or contact the Inclusion Coordinator on 01452 328056 or email kim.mora@gloucestershire.gov.uk
